Love unconditionally. No healthy minded parent would expect a child not to eliminate waste. Quality of waste elimination varies at different stages of development. An infant’s waste is different to a teenager’s – the same applies emotionally. Infant tantrums have their equivalent in teenage years and may vary with gender. Guess whose job it is to clean up soiled nappies- Parenting Priviledges!
Own Responsibility: Soiled nappies belong to parents. Quality of food, frequency of feeds and all that come with it, is parental responsibility and earns the title of mummy / daddy / father / mother / Papa. The responsibility does not change as the child grows, less supervision may just be required till adulthood.
Verify Boundaries: There must be no go areas! Peeing is limited to nappies then with training, to potties. It can’t be anywhere at anytime. This strengthens restraint as the young one gets older, and the earlier boundaries are set in different areas the easier life is for parent and child in latter years. Prov18:18
Expect Life: No expectation, no disappointment! Do your job the best you can and your pay is guaranteed with love sown unconditionally. What is sown is what is reaped. Sow love reap love. Irritation, anger and impatience sown for years and called love or discipline, will yield fruit after its kind! Seed, time and harvest does not fail, the time may lag but in due season the seed will bear fruit after its kind. Life happens: Expectations of gratitude and appreciation may be unmet, and rather rewarded by apparent ingratitude or undesirable behaviour. This is because life happens! Emotional development may not match physical growth as emotional trauma and the consequences may not be apparent to the ordinary eye. Children and indeed anyone, may therefore not have the capacity to meet up to what is expected of them because of life events. Keep loving!
Loving is living free!
On point.
